People with mental disorder and psychosocial disability should be strengthened (empowered) and involved in mental health advocacy, policy, planning, legislation, service delivery, monitoring, research and evaluation.
Today more than ever, more is needed active involvement and support of users in the reorganisation, offer, evaluation and monitoring of services, so that care and treatments better meet their needs. Equally necessary is greater collaboration with informal mental health workers, including family members, teachers, police officials and the private social sector.
Furthermore, a multisectoral approach is necessary where services support people at different stages of life and, where necessary, facilitate their access to fundamental rights, such as employment (including reintegration programmes), housing and training opportunities, participation in community activities and to meaningful programs and activities.
The Liegro Foundation aims to listen and give answers starting from the understanding that the subjects have of their condition; offer mutual encouragement and a sense of belonging through the use of peers as operators and support functions in addition to the direct experience of people with mental distress and their families. Support people with mental health problems in acquiring the essential goods of every citizen (work, home, socialization...) so that they can re/take control of their lives with a project that targets the disorder.
